Pet Activity {Make Them Royalty}

PET ACTIVITY
Spread the love

This pet activity was inspired by some kitschy artwork that popped up as an ad in my Facebook feed once. It was adorable. You could turn your pet into a portrait of a member of royalty. Have you seen those ads? Anyway…this easy paper plate craft allows you to take a photo (or drawing) of your favorite pet and turn them into royalty. And it sits up like a kind of sculpture when it is finished. Honestly, I think that my cats, Zelda and Gabriel, were made to be royalty. What pets will you turn into royalty?

Pet Activity Instructions

Step 1: Cut the Foundation

  • From one of your paper plates, cut off the curved sections so that you are left with a large rectangle. Then round off the top.
  • Cut 3 angled slits in the bottom of your cut out, about 1/2″ apart.

Step 2: Make the Royal Collars

  • From another paper plate, cut a design around the outside edge, like points or curves or whatever you like.
  • Then cut a slit and cut a circle out of the middle, about 5 inches across.
  • Repeat this with each of the 3 remaining paper plates, making a different simple design on each.

Step 5: Finish Off the Dog and Cat Crafts

  • Take one of your cut out paper plates and wrap it around the bottom of your cut out form, placing it in the slits.
  • Pull it together so that it overlaps in the back and secure it with scotch tape.
  • Repeat this for each of the 3 cut out paper plates. This is your pet’s royal collar.

Now that you know how to do this pet activity, why not make all of your pets into a member of royalty? Have a goldfish? Or an iguana? Maybe a cute little bird? Here is another way that you can craft your pets with a fun popsicle stick project. And just for fun, here are some paper bag cat crafts and a dog with wiggly ears that you can make.
