Circus Craft for Preschoolers (Printables)
This is such a fun and simple circus craft for preschoolers. Of course, it doesn’t have to be just for preschoolers (confession: I enjoyed making it even as the adult that I am). Really, kids of any age can enjoy these fingerprint worksheets as they create the circus and carnival scenes, using their imaginations and really making up their own stories as they go.
The inspiration for these circus arts and crafts was a flea circus. So, if you want to make your fingerprint characters into little bugs, that would be totally cool. Really, there are not limits for this activity. Just go for it. You can make it super colorful or keep it simple. Add a ton of details or just give them happy little faces. It it totally up to you. There are not rules. Allow your kiddos to really just be in the moment and explore where they want to go with these circus and carnival crafts printables.

- Circus printables
Step 1: Use the Circus Printables
Here’s one example of the 17 printables that come in this collection…
There are 17 circus and carnival printables in this collection. Start with choosing your favorite and print it out. Though you will probably want to make more than one after you see how much fun it is!
Step 2: Add Some Fingerprints
- Squeeze a little bit of paint (in whatever colors you like) onto a paper plate.
- Dip your fingertip in and then blot your finger on the plate.
- Next, place a fingerprint dot in the circus (or carnival) scene.
- Keep repeating this until you have filled in your circus craft with fingerprint dots.
- Give the paint a little time to dry before moving on to step 3. This shouldn’t take long.
*If you have a child that is sensory sensitive and does not like getting their hands “dirty”, use pompoms as stamps to make your little characters for the circus instead of fingerprints.
Step 3: Finish Off Your Circus Arts and Crafts
Now that you have all of the fingerprints in place and the paint is dry, use the black Sharpie marker to give your circus characters some arms, legs, faces, etc. You can even use your markers or construction paper to add other details, like clown hats or props.
