Turkey Craft Variations

Colorful turkey

Kids can mix and match different colors for the feathers to create a bright and playful turkey. This is a great option for encouraging creativity and letting children choose their own color patterns.

Rainbow feathers

Turn this into a rainbow turkey by using all the colors of the rainbow for the feathers. This version is especially fun for younger kids and adds a bold, cheerful twist to the traditional turkey craft.

Thankful turkey version

For a Thanksgiving twist, kids can write or dictate things they are thankful for on each feather. This turns the craft into a meaningful gratitude activity that also supports early writing and reflection skills.

Name turkey craft

Use the feathers to spell out the child’s name or practice letter recognition. This variation adds an educational literacy element while still keeping the activity fun and hands-on.

Best Ages for This Turkey Craft

Preschool

This turkey craft is great for preschoolers with adult support. It helps introduce simple crafting skills like gluing, coloring, and following basic steps in a fun, hands-on way.

Pre-K

Pre-K students can often complete most of this craft with minimal help. It’s a great activity for building independence while still practicing fine motor skills and creativity.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten students can typically complete this turkey craft more independently. It also works well as a classroom activity that reinforces listening skills, sequencing, and creativity during seasonal lessons.

Crafts are such a great developmental tool for kids (improves motor planning, attention span, executive functioning, fine motor skills, language development and more), and using flashcards makes planning crafts for your kids to enjoy even easier.

Just print out a few of your favorites onto cardstock, cut them into the cards with a hole in the corner and place them on a keyring that you can connect to your craft supply bag (which you can fill using our master list of supplies that we stick to for every single one of the projects in the flashcard collection). It’s so simple.

And the best part is that there’s not a screen in sight. Technology is such a great thing, but it’s also nice to take a break from it once in awhile and let the brain explore in other ways.
