If you love this Thanksgiving craft, you’re going to want to make this thankful turkey, this Thanksgiving turkey hat printable and these Thanksgiving coloring pages.
I bet you’ve never heard of craft flashcards…Of course you haven’t…because I totally made it up 🙂 As a pediatric Occupational Therapist, I’ve witnessed kids struggle to complete multi-step activities. So, I came up with this brilliant (if I do say myself) way to break down crafts into bite-sized pieces in the form of flashcards.
These are especially perfect for those kiddos who have limited attention spans.
Crafts are such a great developmental tool for kids (improves motor planning, attention span, executive functioning, fine motor skills, language development and more), and using flashcards makes planning crafts for your kids to enjoy even easier.
Just print out a few of your favorites onto cardstock, cut them into the cards with a hole in the corner and place them on a keyring that you can connect to your craft supply bag (which you can fill using our master list of supplies that we stick to for every single one of the projects in the flashcard collection). It’s so simple.
And the best part is that there’s not a screen in sight. Technology is such a great thing, but it’s also nice to take a break from it once in awhile and let the brain explore in other ways. Click the image to learn more about our collection of 100 Craft Flashcards for Kids.

Step-by-step Turkey Craft Instructions:
Step 1: Use the Turkey Craft Printable
- Download and print the turkey craft template.
- Use it to cut the turkey body and wings out of brown construction paper (or another color of your choice).
- Then use scraps of paper and cut out a yellow beak and red wattle.
- Also cut out the eyes from the printable or plan to use googly eyes.
Step 2: Begin Turkey Craft Assembly
- Assemble the body of the turkey craft by first using your glue stick to add the beak.
- Then add the eyes and last, the wings.
- You can use your markers or crayons at this point to add any details you would like.
Step 3: Draw a Guide
- Choose a color of construction paper as the background for your turkey art.
- Place the turkey body on the bottom in the center and make a light pencil line around the top.
- DO NOT glue the body down at this time. Simple remove it and set it aside.
Step 4: Make a Feather Stamp
- Find the part of the template with the feather form.
- Use it as a guide to shape the pipe cleaner into a stamp, bending up the extra at the end to use as a handle.
Step 5: Stamp the Turkey Feathers
- Now that you have your feather stamp, squeeze out your favorite colors of paint onto a paper plate or some newspaper.
- Place the “stamp” into the paint and start creating feathers, using the pencil markings as a guid for where the body of your turkey will go later.
- Keep adding feathers in various colors until it looks how you want. You can use the same stamp over and over again or make a new stamp for each color. We didn’t mind a little bit of blending and used the same stamp for all of the feathers.
- Set it aside and allow the paint to dry. (Go have a snack!)
Step 6: Finish Off Your Cute Turkey Art
- Once the paint has dried, use your glue stick to adhere the turkey body to the center of the stamped feathers. Press firmly to allow the glue to take hold.
