6 Easy Valentine Crafts for Kids
Sometimes it just takes a few tweaks to turn your favorite craft into one of these Valentine crafts for kids. In this article, we are going to look back at some of my favorite arts and crafts projects for kids to get inspiration for new easy Valentine crafts. We will be changing up the colors, adding hearts, just making a few adjustments to turn these creations into crafts perfect for this Valentine’s Day holiday season. Let’s take a look at some of the before and afters…
Valentine Craft #1: Polar Bear Craft
This adorable polar bear craft is easy to make using just a few supplies. It is perfect for preschoolers who are working on developmental hand skills, like hand eye coordination. This Valentine version is very close to the original. All we needed to do was add a small cut out heart. The easiest way to make these hearts is to fold a small piece of paper in half and cut out the half arch shape. Use a little glue stick to adhere the heart to the polar bear craft. Valentine Craft #2: Ice Skate Craft
These ice skates are one of my favorite winter crafts for kids because they are just so darn simple. Paper and popsicle sticks…seriously so basic. You can find the original ICE SKATING CRAFT post here, which includes a free template to make this craft even easier. Feel free to change up the colors and designs to fit any occasion. To make this one of our Valentines crafts for kids, all we did was make it in traditional Valentine colors and add a heart. Simple as that!
Valentine Craft #3: Easy Dinosaur Crafts
Who doesn’t love a good dinosaur craft? And here we have an entire collection of adorable dinosaurs made with popsicle sticks and paper. So simple! To change these adorable dinosaur crafts from their previous form to one of our easy Valentine crafts for kids, just add a few hearts. You can do this anywhere, but in the photo below we give you a few ideas to get you started. You can also feel free to change up colors and designs and really make it your own. Wouldn’t these make a great DIY Valentine for a dear friend? You can find the original instructions for these DINOSAUR CRAFTS here.
Valentine Craft #4: Simple Sheep Craft
These sheep crafts are totally adorable just as they are, with their plaid washi tape legs, puffy head and yarn wrapped body. Then add a simple cut out heart to the middle, adhering it with a glue stick…and you have the perfect little Valentine crafts. Remember, to cut out a heart, just fold a small piece of paper in half and then make the arch. We used red paper for our Valentine heart, but you can choose whatever color you like. Go here to find the instructions for the original EASY SHEEP CRAFTS. There is a free template available for the body and head of these cute little sheep.
Valentine Craft #5: Lacing Bunny Craft
Our cute bunny craft starts with a simple change to move it from an Easter or Spring theme to a Valentine themed craft. We used some traditional Valentine colors and designs for painting the paper plate before adding the lacing to our now adorable Valentine craft. This craft is so fun to make and is great for working on fine motor skills too (added bonus). If you are working with little ones, a grown up will need to cut out the bunny face, but your kiddo will love painting and lacing involved with this simple kids craft. You can find the original instructions for this RABBIT CRAFT here.
We have a bunny pictured here, but you can also make the same adjustments to our lacing polar bear craft. You can find the full tutorial for the polar bear craft here: POLAR BEAR LACING CRAFT
Valentine Craft #6: Penguin Card
The last of our Valentine crafts for kids in this collection is one of our DIY valentine cards. And this one has a penguin on it with moving wings! In this version, instead of being a Christmas card, we have him holding a heart to form him into a homemade Valentine’s Day card. It is really that simple. Just cut out a basic heart in whatever color you like and use the glue stick to add it to his tummy, right where his little wings come together. You can find the instructions for the original Penguin Christmas card (and free printable template) here.
There is just something about Valentine’s Day…love is in the air. And I know that these crafts will just make you smile. We have given you a few examples here, but I bet that you can find even more crafts to transform into simple Valentine crafts for kids. Sometimes all you need is an extra little heart.
Happy Crafting!
