Preschool Fine Motor Activity Pig Craft (Free Printable)
Not only is this preschool pig craft completely adorable, it’s also perfect for practicing fine motor skills. Tearing and placing the washi tape is great for promoting a mature pincer grasp, which is the optimal way to hold a pencil. Some children struggling with writing, and holding the pencil properly goes a long way toward success.

The only thing better than making crafts is combining creating with reading a good book on the same topic. It’s a great way to also encourage a love of reading.

Step-by-step Instructions:
Step 1: Grab the Free Printable
- Download the free pig craft template.
- Print it directly onto some pink construction paper.
- Grab some pink patterned washi tape and cover the large circle on the craft template. This can be done in a criss cross pattern or placed randomly with small torn pieces. You can even use more than one design of washi tape for this step.
Step 2: Place the Washi Tape
- Once you have covered the circle somewhat (it’s ok to leave some spaces), cut out the circle.
*I found it looked best when I cut off the black border.
Step 3: Cut Out the Parts
- Now cut out the rest of the pieces for your pig craft, including the snout and ears.
Step 4: Add Some Details
- Use a marker or crayons to add some details to the pieces that you just cut out.
Step 5: Begin Assembly of Your Pig Craft
- Grab your glue stick and attach the pig’s ears to the washi covered circle.
Step 6: Add the Pig Snout
- To create a snout that is elevated off of the face slightly, we’re going to create a little spring from some paper.
- From your scraps, cut 2 strips of paper about 1/2 which each and 2 to 3 inches long.
- Attach them with your glue stick at 90 degree angle. Then fold the two halves back and forth over the square where they meet.
- Do this about 3 times until you have a short little spring. Then cut away the excess and secure it with the glue stick.
- Glue the paper spring right in the center of your pig’s face.
- Then place the pig’s nose right on top.
Step 7: Finish Off Your Piggy Craft Face
- To finish off the pig’s face, apply some large googly eyes.
- Then draw on a little smile. We used a black Sharpie for this so that the marker would stick to the washi tape.
Now that you’ve created this pig, you’re going to want to make more. Who says that pigs have to be pink? You can make more in any colors of your choice.

What if I don’t have washi tape?
If you don’t have washi tape, you can still make this craft. Instead of the washi tape, use strips of paper. Just glue them in place.
Though I highly recommend you get yourself some washi tape for your craft bag. It really is my favorite supply for crafting with kids. It’s incredible versatile, comes in more colors and patterns than you can imagine and is relatively inexpensive.
