Step-by-step Simple Craft Instructions:
1
Design the Turtle’s Shell
- Download and print the free turtle craft. We printed it directly onto green construction paper.
- No need to get out the green paint. Instead, grab some washi tape in your favorite colors and tear pieces to cover the circle, which will become the turtle’s shell. It does not need to be solidly covered. Gaps are welcome.
2
Cut Out the Turtle Shell
- Now that you’ve designed your cute turtle’s shell, simply cut it out. Set it aside to be used in a later step.
3
Cut out the Rest of the Turtle’s Body
- Now it’s time to cut out the rest of the pieces for your adorable turtles.
- Cut out all of the body parts, including the turtle’s head, 4 legs and tail.
- Set these pieces aside to use in the next step.
4
Put Your Cute Turtle Together
- Now grab the glue stick to begin assembly of your easy craft.
- Start by attaching the head to the shell, tucking it underneath.
- Next glue on each of the 4 legs.
- Last, add the turtle’s tail.
5
Finish Off Your Little Turtle
- The last touch is to give your turtle a sweet little face.
- All you need to do is add some googly eyes or grab a marker or crayon to draw on the face. It’s a great way to give him a bit of personality.
Can I Use Other Types of Paper?
We chose green cardstock for our turtle craft for preschoolers because we always keep some in our craft bag. However, you can also use cardstock in whatever color you have on hand. You can even print onto white card stock and then use crayons or markers to color your project before adding the washi tape to the shell and beginning assembly. I would not use standard printer paper because it’s not sturdy enough.
What If I Don’t Have Washi Tape?
If you don’t have washi tape, first off, get some. It’s probably my number one favorite crafting supply because it’s cheap, versatile and comes in so many colors and patterns. It’s such so much fun!
But if you haven’t added any to your craft bag yet, you can also simply color the shell, glue on some mini pompoms or use colorful tissue paper squares to give your turtle his own unique look. You can also choose to tear up small pieces of paper for more solid colors type of look on the shell.
