This super fun St. Patrick’s Day game is a classic. I think we all played the game Memory in our childhood. It’s the perfect way to have fun while promoting skills like taking turns, following rules, visual memory, communication skills, attention span and so much more! This version is a DIY printable with lucky clovers ready to color. We’ll take you step-by-step through the process of creating this game and how to play it.

One of the best things about St. Patrick’s Day (other than the yummy corn beef and cabbage) is the crafts! If you enjoy this lucky clover activity, you’re also going to want to make this pot of gold craft, this mosaic rainbow craft and this lucky clovers craft.

How to make your St. Patrick’s Day Game

The only thing that’s more fun than playing a game with friends is creating that game from scratch. Your child is going to feel so proud of what they created and have a blast playing the memory game.

SUPPLIES FROM THE BAG

To make crafting with your kids actually do-able and fun (like it should be), we always stick to a list of basic supplies that fit into one bag for all of the crafts that you see on this site. We never stray from the master list so that once you fill your bag, you’re ready to craft along over and over again, even when time and money is tight. Now let’s craft some memories!

Step-by-step Instructions:

Step 1: Use the Free St. Patrick’s Day Craft Template

  • Download the free printable.
  • Print at least 2 copies of the hearts page onto heavy cardstock. *Do not use standard printer paper since you will be able to see through it.

Step 2: Color the Game Pieces

  • Design and color your hearts.
  • You should make an identical copy of each heart so that they are a match to use in the game.
  • The more hearts you color, the more difficult the game will be.

*Crayons work better for this since marker may be seen through the back of the game piece.

Step 3: Cut Apart the Pieces

  • Once you’ve colored all of the hearts you want to use, cut the game pieces apart.

Step 4: How to Play This St. Patrick’s Day Memory Game

  • To play the game, place the pieces face down in a grid pattern.
  • Take turns turning over 2 pieces at a time.
  • If they match, keep the pieces and take another turn.
  • If they do not match, turn the pieces over again. It is then the next person’s turn.
  • Keep going like this until all of the pieces are gone from the board.
  • The person with the most pieces at the end wins.

Now grab some friends and have fun creating this game and playing it together. Share a snack and laugh a lot!

Keep the Crafty Goodness Going…

How to Make This a St. Patrick’s Day Classroom Activity

Divide the students in your class into groups of 3 to 4 for this activity. Cut apart the clover game pieces for them to decorate, give each about 6 to 8 clovers. Go over the rules with your class and confirm understanding. Then put the collection together and play the game. It may get a little rowdy since you’ll have several games going at once, but I promise it will be a blast!

How Many People Can Play This Game?

Given the short attention span of young kids, I’d stick to a 2 to 4 players for this game. That way there isn’t a lot of wait time between turns. However, if you want to play with more players, simply create a larger board.
