Step-by-step Instructions:

Step 1: Cut

  • Grab your paper plate and cut out the center circle to form the shape of your wnoman shape.
  • Spread out some newspaper and place your plate on top, bottom side up.

Step 2: Paint

  • Choose some paint colors and squeeze it out onto your newspaper.
  • Paint a base color using your pompoms. You can choose to create a handle for your “paint brush” by clipping the pompom with a clothespin.
  • Allow the base coat to dry and then go back and add more design using your q-tips.
  • Give the paint time to dry before moving on to step 3.

Step 3: Punch the Holes

  • Once the paint has dried, use your hole punch to make holes around the center circle, about 1/2 inch apart.

Step 4: Lace Up Your Snowman Craft

  • Now cut a piece of yarn about 1 yard long.
  • Lace one end of the yarn through one of the holes and secure in the back using a piece of tape.
  • Take your white yarn and lace it back and forth through the holes.
  • When you get to the end of one piece, tape it down in the back and cut away the excess. Then cut another piece and begin again. You will likely need several yarn strands to thorough cover the snowman’s face.

*To make lacing easier, wrap some tape around the end of your piece of yarn so that it goes through the holes easier.

Step 5: Make the Carrot Nose

  • Grab a scrap of orange construction paper and cut out a carrot nose for your snowman craft. (You can also use orange felt for this is you happen to have it on hand.)
  • Optional: Add details to the carrot using markers or crayons.

Step 6: Create the Snowman Face

  • Adhere your carrot nose to the center of the snowman’s head using Elmer’s glue or other craft glue.
  • Last, place googly eyes on your snowman craft.
  • Optional: From small pieces of paper, cut a mouth and glue it in place. Or use black felt if you have it on hand.

Can I Skip the Paint?

Absolutely! I know it’s not always ideal to use paint because of the potential mess or because of the wait time. So, if it’s not feasible, just grab your crayons and markers instead to decorate the plate. You could end the craft by glue some small pom poms onto the plate for a fun look.
