Step-by-step Instructions:

Step 1: Use the Free Craft Template

  • Download and print the free snowman card template.
  • Fold a piece of white construction paper in half and use the circle template to cut out the 2 circles for the base of your card.
  • Use the template again with one of the cut out circles to fold down the top section.

Step 2: Put Together the Card Base

  • Use your glue stick to place some glue on the folded down tab.
  • Then place the second circle right on top and press firmly.
  • Now the base of your snowman card is all set to go.

Step 3: Cut Out the Parts for Your Snowman

  • Grab the free snowman craft template again and use it to cut out the parts of your holiday card.
  • We used orange construction paper for the the carrot nose and black for the top hat.
  • Then choose your favorite color of construction paper and use the template to cut out the snowman’s scarf.

Step 4: Add Some Details

  • Now that all of the parts for your snowman are cut out, use your markers to add some details.
  • Optional: We also added a hat band to the top hat with a patterned washi tape. Or use a colored strip of paper to form the hat band.

Step 5: Assemble your Snowman Card

  • Now it’s time to assemble all of the pieces of your snowman card.
  • Grab your glue stick and add the scarf, carrot nose and the top hat.

Step 6: Draw the Snowman Face

  • Last, finish off your snowman by drawing on the rest of his face using your markers. The design is totally up to you.

Step 7: Add a Card Message

  • Finish off your snowman card with a wintery or holiday message. If you’re using this as a Christmas card, you can include that sentiment in the inside message.

Can this be a coloring activity?

Yes!!! This would make a perfect color, cut and glue activity. Simply print the card template onto card stock, color it with crayons or markers and cut out the parts. The template only includes one circle. So, to make it a card, you will need to cut a second circle from an additional piece of paper.

Make this into a puppet

Instead of creating a card using this template, let’s make a snowman puppet! You will only need to cut one circle rather than two. Leave off the back part of the card. Take the snowman face that you’ve created and attach it to a popsicle stick handle to create your puppet.

How to easily make multiple cards

You can fill an entire box with fun and simple snowman holiday cards with just a few steps. Instead of cutting one snowman out at a time, stack a few sheets of paper together and secure them with staples around the edges. Then cut out several pieces at once so that they’re ready to assemble. This is a great way to prepare a winter craft for an entire classroom of students.
