Step-by-step Instructions:
Step 1: Grab the Free Valentine Card Template
- Choose a version of the snowman card to print out.
- Download the pdf and print your choice onto heavy cardstock.
- If you chose the black and white version, start by coloring the parts of your card, including the parts of the snowman.
- Cut out your card.
Step 2: Cut Out the Snowman Parts
- Now cut out each of the parts for your melted snowman, including the hat, heart and carrot nose.
*If crafting with little ones, precut the parts of the snowman for use in step 5.
Step 3: Write Your Valentine Message
- Fold your card in half on the line.
- Now write whatever message you want inside your Valentine’s Day card.
*For little ones who aren’t yet writing, there are a couple of options. You can have them tell you what message to write and leave it at that. Or write that message with a highlighter and have your child trace the letters. There is also the option of just drawing a picture inside the card instead of writing a message.
Step 4: Create the Melted Snowman
- Grab a bottle of Elmer’s glue that is about half full.
- Then add some white paint and shake up the bottle to combine the paint into the glue. You can also grab a popsicle stick and mix thoroughly.
- On the front of your DIY card, make a glob shape with your white glue that immitates the shape of a melted snowman. *Don’t get too close to the edges of the card.
- Fill in the shape with glue.
Step 5: Finish Off Your Valentine Craft
- Before the glue dries, place the parts of your snowman gently on top of the melted snowman however you like.
- Set the card aside and give the glue some time to dry. This will likely take overnight since we used a significant amount of glue.
Skip the Glue
If you really don’t want to mess with glue and paint, you can also create this card using a white crayon or white paint marker where the snowman puddle belongs. Then just glue the parts of the melted snowman on top of the puddle.
