Paper Food Crafts
The best crafts are those that lead to hours of imaginative play…fun to make…even more fun to play! These paper food crafts are made with just a few items from in your supply bag. And these are really just examples of what you can do with the items from the master list that we use to make every craft here at “In the Bag Kids’ Crafts”. And these fun foods are just the start. How about a PIECE OF PUMPKIN PIE? Or some sweet fruit, like an ORANGE SLICE, WATERMELON SLICE, PINEAPPLE, PEAR, STRAWBERRY. Project 1: Egg
SUPPLIES FROM THE BAG
- 3 Large popsicle sticks
- Elmer’s glue
- Newspaper
- White paint
- Construction paint
- Glue stick
- Small pompom
- Clothespin
- Scrap of yellow construction paper
- Scissors
- Pencil
Step 1: Make the triangle
- Glue together 3 large popsicle sticks to make a triangle frame
- Allow the glue to dry
- You may want to make several of these in advance and let them dry overnight. That way you will be able to craft and craft.
Step 2: Paint
- Once the glue is dry, place the triangle on the newspaper
- Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
- Squeeze some white paint onto the newspaper and paint the frame
- Let the paint dry
Step 3: Make the egg
- Trace the outside of the triangle frame onto the white construction paper
- Cut out the triangle, staying about 1/8″ or so inside the drawn triangle
- Glue the paper triangle onto the back of the frame
- Cut a circle out of the scrap of yellow construction paper and glue it on to make the yoke.

Project 2: Peas
SUPPLIES FROM THE BAG
- 3 Large popsicle sticks
- Elmer’s glue
- Green construction paper
- Green paint
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Newspaper
- Clothespin
- Small pomom
Step 1: Make the triangle
- Glue together 3 large popsicle sticks to make a triangle frame
- Allow the glue to dry
- You may want to make several of these in advance and let them dry overnight. That way you will be able to craft and craft.
Step 2: Paint
- Once the glue is dry, place the triangle on the newspaper
- Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
- Squeeze some green paint onto the newspaper and paint the frame
- Let the paint dry
Step 3: Put it together
- Trace the outside of the triangle frame onto the green construction paper
- Cut out the triangle, staying about 1/8″ or so inside the drawn triangle
- Glue the paper triangle onto the back of the frame
- Use the hole punch to punch out green “peas” and glue then onto the triangle
- *You can also make corn, rice, etc. in this manner by just changing up the colors.
Project 3: T-Bone Steak
SUPPLIES FROM THE BAG
- 3 Large popsicle sticks
- Elmer’s glue
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Brown construction paper
- Scrap of white construction paper
- Brown paint
- Newspaper
- Clothespin
- Small pompom
Step 1: Make the triangle
- Glue together 3 large popsicle sticks to make a triangle frame
- Allow the glue to dry
- You may want to make several of these in advance and let them dry overnight. That way you will be able to craft and craft.
Step 2: Paint
- Once the glue is dry, place the triangle on the newspaper
- Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
- Squeeze some brown paint onto the newspaper and paint the frame
- Let the paint dry
Step 3: Put it together
- First, trace the outside of the triangle frame onto the brown construction paper
- Cut out the triangle, staying about 1/8″ or so inside the drawn triangle
- Glue the paper triangle onto the back of the frame
- Draw a ‘T’ on the scrap of white paper and cut out around it to form the T-bone
- Last, glue it in place to finish off the steak
Project 4: Cherry Pie
SUPPLIES FROM THE BAG
- 3 Large popsicle sticks
- Elmer’s glue
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Tan and red paint
- Tan paper (or painted tan paper)
- Scraps of red paper
- Q-tip
- Newspaper
- Clothespin
- Small pompom
Step 1: Make the triangle
- Glue together 3 large popsicle sticks to make a triangle frame
- Allow the glue to dry
- You may want to make several of these in advance and let them dry overnight. That way you will be able to craft and craft.
Step 2: Paint
- Once the glue is dry, place the triangle on the newspaper
- Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
- Squeeze some tan and red paint onto the newspaper and paint the frame
- *You can make tan paint by mixing brown and white
- Let the paint dry
Step 3: Put it together
- First, trace the outside of the triangle frame onto the tan construction paper
- *If you do not have tan construction paper, paint paper to match the frame
- Cut out the triangle, staying about 1/8″ or so inside the drawn triangle
- Glue the paper triangle onto the back of the frame
- Draw a wavy crust out of the tan paper and cut it out
- Cut out 3 teardrop shapes from the scraps of red paper
- Glue on the crust and the red teardrops like in the picture below
Project 5: Spaghetti
SUPPLIES FROM THE BAG
- 3 Large popsicle sticks
- Cream colored paint
- Newspaper
- Clothespin
- Small pompom
- Cream construction paper (or painted to match)
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Elmer’s glue
- Glue stick
- Scrap of red construction paper
- Medium brown pompom
Step 1: Make the triangle
- Glue together 3 large popsicle sticks to make a triangle frame
- Allow the glue to dry
- You may want to make several of these in advance and let them dry overnight. That way you will be able to craft and craft.
Step 2: Paint
- Once the glue is dry, place the triangle on the newspaper
- Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
- Squeeze some cream paint onto the newspaper and paint the frame
- *You can make cream paint by mixing yellow and white
- Let the paint dry
Step 3: Put it together
- First, trace the outside of the triangle frame onto the cream construction paper
- *If you do not have cream construction paper, paint paper to match the frame
- Cut out the triangle, staying about 1/8″ or so inside the drawn triangle
- Glue the paper triangle onto the back of the frame
- Draw squiggles all over the surface with your pencil to form the “noodles”
- Draw a splash on the red construction paper and cut it out
- Glue it onto the triangle to form the “sauce”
- Last, glue the brown pompom on top for the “meatball”
And now that you have made all of this food, let’s play! Throw a pretend dinner party. Set the table and serve something good 🙂 Child learn through make believe and play better than anything else. They problem solve and imitate things that grown ups do. This kind of play is vital to healthy development. So, what’s for dinner?
