Barnyard Kids’ Craft: Triangle Pig

I am just having so much fun this week, and I hope that you are too! These barnyard animals are turning out to be even cuter than what I had in my imagination. I cannot wait to see your versions of these creations. If you have not yet, check out the ROOSTER, HORSE, SHEEP, and COW. And now for the very simple instructions for this adorable pig kids craft, with a pop-up nose!

  • Pink paint
  • Clothespin
  • Medium pompom
  • 3 Large popsicle sticks
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Pink construction paper
  • Pink marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Newspaper

It is my goal to see more families crafting together…for so many reasons. But mostly because it is just so much fun! And, in order to do that, it needs to require less prep and be an easy activity to “go to” at a moment’s notice, whenever you find those rare found moments of life. To make creating with your kids’ do-able, fill your bag in advance (using the free printable shopping list or Amazon links HERE). Half of the items you probably already have in your house right now. It is just a matter of collecting them together. Once your craft kit is together, you can just pull it out and pick any craft on this blog. And I mean ANY craft. (With more crafts being added all the time!)

Step 1

  • Glue together 3 large popsicle sticks into a triangle frame shape using Elmer’s glue
  • Allow the glue to dry thoroughly
  • *You may want to prepare several triangle frames at once so that they are ready for other projects. Just keep them in your craft bag.

Step 2

  • Trace around the outside of the triangle frame onto pink construction paper with your pencil
  • Draw a line inside what you have traced about 1/8″

Step 3

  • Place the triangle frame on the newspaper
  • Pinch the pompom with the clothespin to form a “paint brush”
  • Squeeze a little pink paint onto the newspaper and paint the triangle frame
  • Set aside and allow the paint to dry

Step 4

  • First, cut out the pink triangle
  • Then cut out a pink circle for the pig’s nose. If you would like the nose to pop up like mine, cut a small strip of pink paper and fold it into a very small accordian
  • Last, cut 2 pink ears

Step 5

  • Glue the pink triangle onto the back of the popsicle stick frame
  • Then glue the ears, eyes, and nose (with accordian paper under it) into place
  • Add details as you like with the pink marker
